The theme of this meeting is "Coronavirus! We will hit you back a thousandfold as hard!"
What emotions did you have during the COVID-19 crisis?
ー the frustration of virologists towards insufficient COVID-19 countermeasures, the heartbreaking concern towards the stigma effect on beneficial viruses, or the eager to embark on the new research in virology.ー
We aim to reinforce our passion in virology research together and make a huge avancement of virology ultimately to overcome the virus epidemics.
本研究集会のテーマは「いいかコロナウイルス 1000倍返しだ！」です。不十分なコロナウイルス対策に対するウイルス研究者の悔しい思い、コロナ禍で善玉ウイルスにまで風評被害が及びそうで切ない思い、はたまたこれを機にウイルス研究を始めてみたいと感じたアツい思いを1000倍返しに（ウイルス学の発展に昇華）したいと思っております。

本研究集会のテーマは「いいかコロナウイルス 1000倍返しだ！」です。不十分なコロナウイルス対策に対するウイルス研究者の悔しい思い、コロナ禍で善玉ウイルスにまで風評被害が及びそうで切ない思い、はたまたこれを機にウイルス研究を始めてみたいと感じたアツい思いを1000倍返しに（ウイルス学の発展に昇華）したいと思っております。
Welcome message
挨拶
We, the virology "Wakate" network, hold the first online virology "Wakate" meeting with the aim to build a platform to share the ideas and enthusiasm of young virology researchers and develop new collaborations, in place of the canceled Japanese Virology Meeting.
We believe that young researchers need to widely disseminate their research activities and promote interdisciplinary and international research. Therefore, this conference will offer various programs to promote interdisciplinary fusion and internationalization, and will provide opportunities for participants to have fun discussions with each other. Since it's the first time, we can't guarantee how it will turn out. But wouldn't it be exciting to meet young virology enthusiasts and work together to promote the future of virology research? Anyone interested in this conference is welcome.
Finally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many researchers, including the Japanese Society of Virology and the Neovirology Society, for their cooperation.

私達ウイルス学若手ネットワークは、新型コロナウイルス感染拡大で延期になった学術集会に代わり、ウイルスを研究する若者のアイデア・意欲・連携を創出し、発信する場を構築したいと考え、第1回研究集会を企画致しました。"ウイルス学"のカバーする研究対象や研究意義は非常に幅広く、若手研究者は領域を横断した研究の推進のほか、その研究活動を広く発信する必要があると考えます。そこで、本研究集会では多分野融合や国際化を促進する企画を取り上げ、異なるウイルスを研究する若者同士で活発な議論を促す工夫を盛り込んでおります。初開催ですので、どのようなカタチの研究集会が生まれるのか、は誰にも分かりません。ただ、ウイルス学研究の発展を求める若者で議論し合えることにワクワクしませんか？少しでも本研究集会に興味を持ってくださった研究者の方には、積極的に参加していただきたく思います。
最後になりましたが、本会開催にあたり日本ウイルス学会、新学術領域ネオウイルス学、その他ご協力いただきました多くの先生方に心より御礼申し上げます。
